The following scholarship systems are available to provide financial support and encourage students with their studies.

Internal Scholarships

Scholarships for International Students

Partial reductions in tuition fees are provided with the aim of supporting international students who exhibit merit and financial need, and who exhibit the potential of making contributions to the global society at large. A maximum reduction of up to four years of tuition is applied if conditions such as academic merit are satisfied.

*The number of scholarship recipients is based on the number of applicants and scholarship award amounts.

A JFOU or external scholarship of the same or greater amount cannot be received at the same time as a Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students.

JFOU Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students

Scholarships of 30,000 yen per month or 360,000 yen per year are paid to international students with excellent grades to encourage their studies and desire for learning. Eighteen students currently in their second to seventh semesters will be supported.

External Scholarships

Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students (grant)

*For Undergraduate and Graduate Students

 

This scholarship is operated by MEXT for privately-funded international students. Successful applicants must show outstanding merit and exhibit financial need. The scholarship aims to further improve the learning outcomes of recipient students, develop educational exchange between Japan and various other countries, and improve mutual understanding and peaceful friendship. The amount paid is 48,000 yen per month, for a period of six months or one year.

Private Educational Support Foundation Scholarships

Several scholarships operated by various educational foundations are available through the university while others involve direct application by students themselves.

Scholarships available through the university have joint university/student application deadlines in the spring and fall semesters.
